The rural landscape offers a place of rest and recovery as we become immersed within the environment. A sense of wellbeing comes as details, patterns and textures capture our attention and the sensory experiences of light, sound and touch allow us to rest and recover. Chapters end and new ones begin.
The therapeutic affect of the landscape and the moments and experiences we encounter throughout our lives were considered alongside one another within this work. The sense of shared human experiences along individual journeys became apparent.
Handcrafted artwork was blended with digital photography and imagined landscapes became visible. Three large scale images were created. As the exhibition space allowed for experimentation, I adapted the work and combined the three pieces to generate a print five metres in length.
When displayed the print rippled away from the surface of the wall, as shown below, allowing the viewer a greater engagement with the work.
